Sean Dyche brings up his first anniversary in charge of Burnley top of the Championship, on the back of the best performance of his reign.
Dyche celebrates a year at the helm tomorrow, but his 50th game in charge against QPR on Saturday brought a 24th win, meaning he has earned 76 points from 46 league games - a full season as such.
The Clarets entertain Premier League West Ham United at Turf Moor tonight in the last 16 of the Capital One Cup, looking for a ninth-successive win in all competitions.
But, after bringing up his half-century of games in charge, Dyche was thrilled with his players after ending QPR’s unbeaten start to the season.
Looking back on his first year, Dyche said: “You have your own expectations about what you can do with your group of players and your staff.
“I’m a great believer in my staff, I think they work well and appropriately with the group.
“I don’t lay too many markers down as a group or as a person. I think if you open your mind to anything you can achieve.
“I’ve tried to get that through to the players.
“It’s not as easy as me just saying it, of course.
“But that’s the mentality I have, it’s about opening your mind to improve, to learn.”
Dyche got one over on old master Harry Redknapp at the weekend, before crossing swords with another veteran campaigner Sam Allardyce tonight, and he added: “I’m a young manager still learning, and I’ll be pulling Harry before he leaves to pick his brain about what he goes through and what he’s been through.
“I’m willing to do that, my staff are willing to do that, and we just apply it to the players the best we can.
“But like anyone you can send them out there prepared, but there’s still a moment when you say ‘please turn up lads!’”
