Garlick hopes boss will enjoy extended Turf stay

Dyche is the seventh-longest serving manager in English football, having been appointed in October 2012.

He has led the club twice to the Premier League, once as Championship winners, and earned back to back top flight seasons for the first time since the mid-1970s.

And Garlick said: “Sean’s got to go down as one of our best managers in our history I think.

“If you are that, then you are constantly going to be linked with opportunities as and when they arise. “He’s been here five years in October, personally I hope he’s here for another five years until 2022, and if we can achieve that, I’m sure we’ll have more success together.”

Dyche has drawn comparison with the likes of Harry Potts, who won the First Division title in 1960, and Garlick added: “Harry Potts won the ultimate prize, but given the amount of money in the game, and what we’ve achieved so far, he (Dyche)’s got to be in the top two or three, hasn’t he? Certainly in the post-war era.”

And Garlick hopes he will stay and continue his good work: “If we’re successful, he’s always going to be on lists. We just have to make sure we’re hungry enough to keep driving things forwards and keep improving, and hopefully that keeps him motivated.”

Dyche’s success could also tempt players to join: “Players we’re looking to recruit look at Sean and think ‘yep, I want to work this guy’, so it can only improve the recruitment.”
