Clarets goalkeeper Matt Gilks could be set to join Joey Barton at Rangers.

The 34-year-old is believed to have travelled to Glasgow for talks with Ibrox boss Mark Warburton over a move to the 54-time Scottish champions.

Gilks, signed by Sean Dyche in the summer of 2014 ahead of the last Premier League campaign, will see his contract at Turf Moor expire next month and he'll leave the club having made just two appearances.

The Rochdale-born stopper made his debut against Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup and played again in the same competition the following season as Burnley were dumped out by Port Vale.

Gilks was between the posts as the Clarets beat Rangers in a pre-season friendly last term where Scott Arfield's goal was the difference.

He has attracted interest from Hearts but looks certain to rebuff their offer.
