Clarets midfielder David Jones has extended his contract at Turf Moor to 2017.

Jones arrived on a free transfer from Wigan Athletic on a three-year deal in the summer of 2013 and has made 87 appearances for Burnley, scoring two goals.

He played a key role in winning promotion to the Premier League in 2014, and only missed two games in the Premier League last season.

The 30-year-old started his career at Manchester United, making four appearances, before loan spells at Preston North End, NEC Nijmegen and Derby County, who he joined for £1m in 2006.

He went to Wolves for £1.2m in 2008, staying for three seasons before moving to Wigan on a free transfer.
