Burnley will host lancashire rivals Preston North End in the second round of the Capital One Cup.
The tie will be played in the week commencing August 26th.
It is a fitting draw, given that the teams first met 125 years ago on the opening day of the inaugural Football League season.
It is the sides’ first meeting since the Clarets won 2-1 at Deepdale in February 2011, and the first League Cup tie since August 1993, when Burnley prevailed 6-2 on aggregate.
Preston saw off derby rivals Blackpool 1-0 at Deepdale on Monday night, before Sean Dyche’s men eased past York City 4-0 the following evening.
