BURNLEY FC boss Eddie Howe has no fresh injury worries ahead of the Doncaster game on Boxing Day, saying: “Touch wood we have no problems, we’re in good shape, the lads have trained well this week and there’s no niggles or anything.”

And Keith Treacy, having been left out of the 16 for the last two games, is posing a nice selection headache for the manager: “Keith is knocking on the door - the beauty of a stronger squad is we have quality players noty in the 16 at present, but we’d love to get him in the squad, and the team as soon as possible.

“It’s just competition for places, we have options now in the attacking third, and everyone is pushing people on to better performances.”

One of those options is striker Sam Vokes, on loan from Wolves, and Howe makes no bones about his desire to keep the Wales international at the club: “Sam is different to what we’ve got, he gives us that physical presence and a target.

“He can change a game when he comes on, and when he starts he’s a handful.

“In an ideal world I’d like to keep him, and the battle then is to keep everyone happy, which is a battle I’d enjoy.

“His loan is until January 15th, and we’ll sit down and discuss it then with Wolves.

“I appreciate them letting us have him, and conversations regarding him staying longer are for further down the line.

“It’s the same with Kieran (Trippier) and Ben (Mee), they are on loan for the season, and we’ll look at that then.

“But Manchester City have been great with us, very supportive, and I hope they feel it has been beneficial for the players to come here as well.”
