While fans ‘Dare to Dream’, Burnley boss Sean Dyche refuses to be dragged in to talk of the Premier League.

Dyche has been immovable in his stance, focussing only on the game ahead despite boasting a favourable advantage over promotion rivals QPR and Derby County with just six Championship games remaining.

But, nonetheless, he’s urging supporters to enjoy the journey which continues tonight against struggling Barnsley at Oakwell, kick-off 7-45 p.m.

“I was made aware of other results at the end, but all that’s important is that we focus until the end,” said Dyche, “Our focus now is Tuesday.

“We’re never too high with the highs or too low with the lows. I didn’t go in there yelping and screaming about getting another fantastic point; we earnt the right to earn another point and now it’s all about recovery and looking after themselves because Tuesday will come about quickly and we need to be ready to go again.”

Dyche added: “I hope the supporters are dreaming and I hope they are enjoying it. I’d never take dreams away from people. The fact is there’s work to be done so that’s what I focus on and that’s what the players will focus on.”

Meanwhile, Dyche believes youngsters Jason Gilchrist and Steven Hewitt will benefit hugely from their involvement with the squad at Vicarage Road at the weekend.

Hewitt, who replaced Junior Stanislas as an 80th minute substitute against Watford earlier in the season, has made three appearances for the senior side in total while Gilchrist, a prolific scorer for the Development Squad, was handed his first inclusion in Dyche’s 18 man squad.

“It’s important for the future of the club as well with the young boys in Steven Hewitt and Jason Gilchrist,” said Dyche. “They were with us today on the bench and they’ve seen what it’s all about.

“They can sense in the dressing room what it means and see first hand how the players conduct themselves to deliver performances. We are stretched at the moment with the squad but there are some benefits to it. They’ll be learning from it.”
