THE Clarets’ winless streak was extended to six games as Michael Chopra’s goal earned Ipswich maximum points at Portman Road.
Paul Jewell’s side were dominant from start to finish and their performance was fully deserving of a fifth successive home triumph.
Lee Grant made a string of fine saves to keep Burnley in the fixture, with Danny Lafferty’s header the closest Burnley came to scoring.
The tone was set when Leadbitter’s shot was charged down by Burnley defender David Edgar and, after Lafferty’s effort went wide, it was one-way traffic.
Lee Bowyer forced Grant into action before the break, then, after half-time, Grant was again called on to deny Leadbitter from 30 yards, while Jay Emmanuel-Thomas fired wide.
Ipswich finally got the goal they deserved nine minutes after the interval.
Lee Martin’s shot was beaten away by Grant, but the visiting keeper could do nothing when Chopra followed up from six yards.
Emmanuel-Thomas, Leadbitter and Lee Martin all had chances to extend the Town lead before Leadbitter saw red for a second yellow card offence in time added on.
