READ and Padiham seconds are celebrating title success.

Read finished the Ribblesdale League First Division campaign unbeaten - some achievement against a number of clubs’ first teams.

The experience of Mohammed Zafran, who scored over 500 runs, and Frank Barden, who claimed over 50 wickets, was vital, along with Chris Astin as vice captain.

The side have carefully embedded four Under 15s into the team, who will all benefit from this winning experience to hopefully move on through to first team cricket in the next 18 months.

Next year will see Read again work hard to carefully develop, nurture and progress more juniors into senior cricket.

Padiham only lost twice in romping away with the Second Division title by 35 points.

Neil Anderson top-scored with 405 runs for the side, while Jimmy Gray took 35 wickets including 7-54 against Settle.
