Lowerhouse win in T20 and LCB Trophy

Lancashire League leaders Lowerhouse were scuppered in their attempts to stretch their cushion at the summit as the rain prevented play against Todmorden at Centre Vale.

Both sides were awarded three points due to their inactivity after the West Enders came out on top in the Twenty20 clash at Liverpool Road the previous evening.

Chasing a revised target of 92 in 11 overs, Lowerhouse got there in 9.1 overs to secure an eight-wicket triumph.

Professional Dieter Klein hit eight fours in an unbeaten 52, adding an unbroken 63 with Ben Heap (20 not out) after the loss of Jon Finch (2) and Joe Halstead (7).

Todmorden professional Ashton Turner hit six fours and two sixes in a top score of 73 in the visitors 166-7. He put on 97 for the second wicket with Ben Sutcliffe (36) after losing Ben Pearson (12) to Klein at 26.

On Sunday, ’House beat Vernon Carus by 69 runs in the first round of the LCB Knockout Trophy. Joe Martin (37), Jon Finch (33), professional Dieter Klein (27), Paddy Martin (26) and skipper Charlie Cottam (25) all chipped in with sound knocks in Lowerhouse’s 191 all out.

Finch then took 4-22, Paddy Martin 2-22 and Klein 2-16 to dismiss the Palace Shield side for 122.

Their reward is a clash with Egerton on June 12th.
