Lowerhouse Seconds close in on lead

LOWERHOUSE seconds are now unbeaten in 11 games - with nine wins - after a nine-wicket success against Rawtenstall.

The seconds are launching a real bid for honours this season and are within a win of being table toppers.

In this game the strength of the victory was denoted by the fact that there were still 19 overs remaining when the total was passed.

Former Lowerhouse junior Sam Excell was the mainstay of the Rawtenstall innings with 106 not out of a total of 168, having opened the innings.

Joe Beneduce took 4-15, Mickey Lee 2-27 and Scott Hope 2-61.

Lowerhouse knocked off the runs with one wicket down as Jack Edgar made 81 not out, Dec Bailey 30 not out and Phil Haggerty 24.

Lowerhouse’s Under 15s Sharks enjoyed a comfortable victory against Rawtenstall.

James Stackhouse took 2-14, while Harry Spark (51 not out), Liam Heaton (20) and Matt Locke (16 not out) were among the runs.

The Under 15s Dolphins took on Accrington in a top of the table clash.

Accrington won the game with a much needed six off the penultimate ball.

Jake Seddon hit 48, while Spark made 26 and James Wheatcroft 12.

Seddon also claimed 3-37.

Lowerhouse Under 15s Barracudas took on their clubmates the Dolphins, and batted manfully.

Twelve-year-old Joe Halstead retired on 30.

And Harrison Smith made his maiden 50 for the Barrcudas against Rishton.

The Under 13s Lions racked up a whopping 321-2 to beat Rishton.

Christian Butschok-Brain hit 32, Jack Moodie 31 not out, Harry Wheatcroft 17 not out, and Danny Faulkner and Ross Birchall both made 13 not out.

Georgia Clough kept her nerve to deny East Lancs as the Under 13s Tigers held on for victory, with their opponents needing six to win off three balls.

Josh Moodie hit 21 for the Under 11s Bears in an outstanding display against Darwen, and also made 15 against Longridge.

The Under 11s earned a big win against East Lancs as Dylan du Toit took 4-15.

The Under nines only lost a wicket as they take on board the maxim that not losing wickets is the way to success, beating Ramsbottom.

And the side also beat Haslingden, with Under 7s Daniel Maymond getting two wickets on his debut and Owen Bradley getting one not out.
