Craigh Heaton Memorial final proves a thriller!

THE Craig Heaton memorial Cricket Trophy Inter–Schools competition was won by Shuttleworth College in one of the closes finals to date.

The competition was played in a round-robin format with Shuttleworth winning all their games and Sir John Thursby Community College finishing second.

Once again the East Lancashire summer weather caused the final in July to be postponed, but it was played at Lowerhouse earlier this month.

Shuttleworth batted first and scored a creditable 287, with all the pairs contributing.

In reply, Sir John Thursby scored 280, with Grant, Hughes and Ditch taking two wickets each.

Other competing schools in the Year 7 competition were Blessed Trinity, Unity Community College and Hambledon Community College.

Thanks were expressed to all staff in organising the competition, and Lowerhouse, with hopes that all five schools would compete next year.
