The annual Year 5 event saw over 140 children take part at Burnley Cricket Club, with Heasandford Primary School crowned champions.

Lowerhouse Cricket Club hosted the Asda Girls Kwik Cricket event, and although rain stopped play on several occasions, the standard of cricket was fantastic.

Barden Primary School were eventual winners and the girls progress onto the county final at Unsworth.

The Year 6 Asda Mixed events were held at Lowerhouse and Burnley in blazing sunshine.

St Leonard’s played Padiham Green in the final, and after a nail-biting 40 minutes St Leonard’s took the title.

Heasandford Primary regained their reputation of being the best cricketing school in Burnley after beating Worsthorne in the Burnley final.

Heasandford will join Padiham representatives at the county final at Radcliffe later this month.

The excellent standard of cricket was testament to the good work in the schools and local cricket clubs,
