Several Lowerhouse youngsters have been accepted into county age groups.
Henri Cottam, son of first team captain Charlie, has been selected for the Under 10s, with Jack Spence named in the Under 11s.
Liberty Heap has earned a place in the Under 11 girls’ squad, while Under 13s Jack Simm and Annabelle Uttley are in their respective age groups.
For the Under 15s, Joseph Halstead, Ross Birchall, Emily Gibbins and Georgie Holt got the nod, as well as Under 17 Dominic Stuart.
Cricket chairman Stan Heaton said: “This is very pleasing. It is so difficult to get into a county age group team. For each age group there will be a hundred-plus trialists striving to take one of the half dozen or so places available to newcomers.
“Some have cemented their positions, some have raised themselves from the development team into the main squad, and some are straight in .
“This is a credit to the youngsters for their efforts and application and to their families for the tremendous support needed.
“Commiserations go to the other trialists who didn’t get through, and we hope that they continue to strive to achieve and continue to enjoy their cricket.
“Good luck to those still in the trial system.”
