Clarets boss Sean Dyche felt a dominant performance was deserving of the points against Nottingham Forest.

Burnley extended their unbeaten run in the Championship to 10 games - their best run of the season - as Sam Vokes scored the winning goal midway through the second half to end Forest's resistance.

Dyche's men claimed a fourth-successive clean sheet in the league for the first time in nine years, and he said: "I thought first half we were excellent, I thought not only the quality of the play but the chances we created, and then, over the game, it would a big surprise to everyone if we didn't take the win, because we were powerful, dominant, organised, and there was some really good play.

"The goal was a sign of that.

"I was really pleased with the performance against a side who, this season in particular, have been renowned for being more defensive, and they've shown that with some tight results and frustrated teams away from home, so we had to combat that and we did that well."

For Vokes, it was a 10th goal of the season, and sixth in nine games: "He's scoring well at the moment - I never questioned him earlier in the season, I said he was playing well, Andre was getting the plaudits for scoring, and Sam was being a good foil for him, he's moulding his game slightly differently for the team, and effectively.

"It's a fine finish and the build up play is very good as well.

"George Boyd plays a very important part because players can snatch at it when the ball comes across, and he quite clearly steps over it, lets it run through his legs to allow Sam the freedom of the box to go and finish.

"It was an excellent move, we want our full backs to join in and get forward, a good starting pass from Joey, a fine slide and a good run from Andre to open up and stretch their back four, and Wardy continues his run. A lovely reverse from Andre and a great ball from Wardy - he put a great ball over first half again for Vokesy to have a chance, so, I was really pleased."

Burnley started and ended the first half well, and had a number of chances, but Forest responded well at the start of the second half, and the Clarets had to be patient: "I thought they had 10 or 15 minutes after half-time, which I said to the players, they'll want a reaction from the first half, because we'd been dominant, but other than that I was really pleased, we allowed them little other than set pieces.

"I was really pleased with the feel of the performance and the actual performance, it was a dominant and controlled feel.

"The crowd was a bit edgy, which is unusual here, I don't know why because if I was a fan I'd feel I was looking at some really good football and a side that looks like they were going to win it.

"You can't guarantee that of course, but that's what I would have been thinking.

"But it's that time of the season where people start thinking about that, we don't, we just get on with the next game.

"They've seen some good football tonight and they have here for a long time now, so we want the, to stay patient as well, as the team did, there was no panicked feel to the performance, it was controlled, always felt like we'd get chances to score, and we did.

"That wasn't a tight one, the result is tight, but the performances weren't tight, we were advanced of them considerably at times, but you need to get the margins right, and we have done lately.

"I said when we had a little bumpy run, I said it wasn't a bad run because we were performing well.

"Big decisions went against us. People forget that, when you say it, people say it's excuses, now it's fact."
