Burnley have engaged one of Pakistan’s best off spinners as professional for 2012.

The club have secured the services of 30-year-old Adnan Rasool, who currently plays for State Bank of Pakistan.

Burnley chairman Michael Brown is excited about welcoming him to Turf Moor: “Adnan is a highly recommended off spinner from Pakistan.

“Saeed Ajmal has publicly said on TV that he considers Adnan the second best off spinner in Pakistan, and he has attended numerous Pakistan camps at the behest of Mohammad Yousaf, Younus Khan and Misbah ul Haq.

“The club is thankful to Nadeem and Bouncer Sports for their excellent service and assistance in the process.”

Rasool has claimed 59 First-class wickets since making his bow in 2003.

Despite a First-class batting average in single figures, Rasool is a competent batsman who is capable of making runs in club cricket.

He will be follow Mudassar Nazar and last season’s paid man Imad Wasim as Burnley’s third Pakistani professional.

Burnley Cricket Club’s junior section is holding two free taster sessions at Spirit of Sport.

The dates are Mondas, March 19th and 26th, from 6-7-30 p.m., for any potential new young players.

If you are in Years 3 and 4 and are interested in going along, please contact info@burnleycricketclub.com or telephone 07814770176.

The club is also organising a Sponsored Walk on Saturday, March 17th to help raise much-needed funds.

Anyone is welcome to join in to help raise as much money as possible.

There is a choice of two walks - the under 11s walk leaves Burnley Cricket Club at 11 a.m., and the circular route will take the children to Towneley Park and back to the club where refreshments await. Parents, families and friends are encouraged to join in and offer their support.

The senior walk, for ages 13 and upwards, also leaves the club at 11 a.m., heading for Cliviger, via Mount Lane and returning via Pike Hill to the club.
