Padiham boxer reaches final

SANDYGATE ABC’s busiest boxer Brandon Hartley took to the squared circle once more over the weekend in the NW National CYP’s Championship Semi-Final in Manchester.

Hartley (15) boxed for the forth time in four weeks, hoping to make it four straight wins, against Mancunian H. Parvaiz (Northside ABC).

The first two-minute round saw a very measured performance.

Keeping a high tight guard, Hartley countered off a lead hand, with lightening reflexes, moving in and out of range with ease.

Both young boxers went into the second with added purpose, with Hartley switching attack, while the much-fancied Parvaiz tried switching stances, which played into Hartley countering style.

The third and final round saw the aptly nicknamed “Padiham Power Station” Hartley dominate with some big rear hands pulsating through the guard of Parvaiz, drawing a response.

Hartley slipped and rolled then countered, followed by a rigid right once more to end the contest in total control.

It was no surprise when Hartley’s hand was held high.

Also in the Championships, Burnley’s Calum Rainey (16) narrowly lost out on a split decision against H. Ali (Pool of Life ABC).

“Wow what another cracker from young Branny, four wins in four weeks is just exceptional.

“I couldn’t ask more from the lad,” beamed Sandygate coach Nik Tucker.

“The final on Sunday is against S. Maasoud (Salford ABC), and if Brandon performs like he did, he could well go all the way, he is a very disciplined trainer and will be 100% ready.”
