HAVING won through as best runner up with two wins in two games, the Burnley District Under 13s’ cricket season came to halt in the knockout stages when a poor batting display gave the side no chance against a strong South Ribble.

The Leyland pitch was barely fit and the locals’ batsman simply didn’t graft on it, finishing all out for 57, before South Ribble knocked off the runs with nine wickets in hand.

Charlie Bithell top-scored with 18, with Joe Halstead making 12.

Meanwhile, Lowerhouse Under 15s Dolphins applied themselves well, making 67-6, but Salesbury reached 71-0, with their openers the type to murder the bad ball.

Jake Seddon made 22 not out, and Joey Stein 14.

Lowerhouse Under 11s Cubs turned in a good bowling performance as Church made 205-11, after the West Enders totalled 249-4.

Jack Simm hit 15 not out and Caleb Greenhalgh 12 not out, while George Irvine took 3-13 and Kheiro Chir 2-13.

And the Under 9s lost too many wickets to a powerful Burnley, finishing on 225-7, after Burnley made 284-3.

James Bridge hit 26.
