JIM Heaton is pictured presenting the Craig Heaton Memorial Cricket Trophy to Adam Khan, prior to the game between Burnley and District and Hyndburn and District Under 11s at Lowerhouse last Tuesday, with coaches Stan Heaton and Steve Whittaker in attendance.

Adam, who won the trophy, is 11-years-old and attends Heasandford Junior School.

He plays his cricket at Burnley Cricket Club, where he has been for three years.

The trophy is now presented to the most improved player in any age group, selected by the coaches at winter nets of the Burnley district teams.

It was appropriate this year that the trophy was presented at Lowerhouse as Craig Heaton was a very promising young player there before his tragic death in 1990.

Jim, Craig’s father, who is on the panel of umpires for both the Lancashire League and Ribblesdale League, officiated at the match, which resulted in a comprehensive victory for Burnley, who scored 180-1.

Max Dawson made 50 not out, with Sam Malloy and Bryce Johnson each scoring 40 not out and Qasim Shah 30 not out.

Hyndburn were dismissed for 120 with Bailey Muldoon taking match-winning figures of 3-5.

The Heaton family and the fund once again would sincerely like to thank the District coaches for all their work with the young cricketers.
