FIVE and six-year-olds from Simonstone St Peter's CE Primary School are to go behind the scenes at Padiham Police Station on Tuesday.
The youngsters are to enjoy a tour of the station by local officers where they will get to sit in a traffic car, visit a police cell and try on police hats and vests.

They will also have pretend mug shots taken, play with inky finger print sets and learn how to spell their names using the phonetic alphabet.

The visit will conclude with a question-and-answer session on policing in a real interview room and a colouring competition for which there will be prizes.

Commenting on the visit, Sgt Tim Cussans said: "As a police service we are keen to make our service as open as possible and to inform and educate local people, particularly our youngsters, about the role of the police.

"We are looking forward to hosting the visit and to teaching the children more about the police service and what we do to help local people."
