Landmark Padiham building up for auction

A LANDMARK building in Padiham's industrial history has been put up for auction.
The vacant Engine House, originally part of the former Jubilee Mill in Shakespeare Street, could attract bids from £50,000 to £60,000 when it appears for auction at Manchester United's Old Trafford ground on October 16th at noon.
A freehold Grade II listed former mill engine house, Jubilee Mill's famous chimney was toppled by steeplejack Ronnie Goggins of Bacup in May 1986.
The cotton mill was built in 1888 and in 1981 was divided into smaller industrial units. It closed several years later.
Its listed status means any future development must be sympathetic and retain the character and appearance of the site, but does not rule out the building being converted for residential use. The ground floor area covers 1,472sq.ft.
Interested parties should consult Burnley Council's Planning Department at Burnley Town Hall or by calling 01282 425011 or fax 01282 438772.
