A FREAK storm hit Padiham this week causing flash floods which swept through the streets.
The heavens opened over the town at 6-30 p.m. on Tuesday and despite only lasting 20 minutes, the end result was staggering in some areas.

One of the worst parts to be hit was St John's Road, which experienced some of the worst flooding residents have ever seen.

Mrs Gill Starr, who lives in St John's Road, said: "At first it was quite scary to see so much water. I have never seen anything like it
.
"It was just a freak storm that saw a river of water gushing through the streets and in no time at all it just disappeared. I heard one slight rumble of thunder and then the heavens burst. I have never seen anything like that before but it was amazing to watch."

Luckily there was no damage caused to homes but youngsters certainly made the most of the water.

Mrs Starr added: "The children certainly enjoyed themselves. They had an absolute ball. They were playing and dancing around in the pool of water. They were absolutely thrilled to bits but I don't think their parents were afterwards."
