PADIHAM firefighters were called to a house in Abingdon Road over the weekend after a fridge-freezer caught fire.

The incident happened at 8-55 a.m. on Sunday and crews used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel to put out the blaze before blowing smoke out of the building with a ventilation unit.

The fire caused severe heat and smoke damage to the kitchen and severe smoke damage to the living room.

There was also light smoke damage to the first floor of the property.
