PADIHAM childhood sweethearts reunited by a chance encounter four years ago have wed in a fairytale ceremony.
Miss Yvonne Hill and Mr Mark Tudor, of Spenser Street, tied the knot at the Lapland Ice Hotel in Sweden, sculpted entirely of ice.
"We wanted something a little bit different," said Yvonne (29), a former holiday rep. "Mark had always wanted to go there."
Mark, a cabinet-maker, and Yvonne enjoyed a three-night stay at the hotel, which is 300km from the Arctic Circle, in the heart of Swedish Lapland.
The couple stayed in a cold suite, sleeping on reindeer skin, and wed in the hotel's Ice Chapel in front of 15 close family and friends. The bride walked down the aisle in fur boots and wore a jacket over her ivory sequinned gown."
They arrived at the ceremony on a sleigh pulled by reindeer.
"It was out of this world, it was beautiful," said Yvonne.
The dream wedding was the icing on the cake for the couple who met as children growing up in Padiham.
But when Yvonne set off to travel and Mark's family moved out of the area, they never anticipated their paths would cross again until a chance meeting brought them together.
On returning from Sweden, the couple held a party at Ighten Mount Bowling Club and will honeymoon in Mexico in July.
