COMMUNITY-MINDED volunteers are needed for a big clean-up to transform wasteland in Padiham this weekend.
The police team in the Gawthorpe ward has organised a community clear up of the disused railway line at the back of Hambledon Street, Hapton Street and Pendle Street.

Planned for Saturday, August 2nd, the clean-up will take place between noon and 3 p.m. and Streetscene will provide two skips and safety equipment to help.

Mayor of Padiham Coun. Mark Jinkinson, Coun. Vincent Pridden and the police have all agreed to take part.

PCSO Yuwah Cheng said: "Members of the local community have raised their concerns over the amount of rubbish dumped on the disused railway line at a recent PACT meeting and I am now looking for members of the local community to come forward and volunteer some of their free time at the weekend to erase this problem.

"It will only take a couple of hours and will make such a difference to the local community."

The Gawthorpe neighbourhood policing team can be contacted on their voicemail on 472045.
