RESIDENTS in Read were warned against the dangers of allowing strangers into their homes at a recent event.
A tea and cakes afternoon was organised to inform residents in the Read area of the "No cold calling" project. The event was organised by PCSO Matthew Thornton and PC Peter Wareing, crime prevention officer for Clitheroe Police. The officers were joined by Julie Waddington from Lancashire Trading Standards and Mrs Doreen Collinson, chairman of Read Parish Council.

The afternoon event, held at the United Reformed Church, in East View, included a performance by the Stay Safe theatre show, which highlighted the need for householders to protect their street from distraction burglaries and rogue traders.
