LETTER: Pass on your skills

Have your say

Older People’s Day fell on October 1st and the WRVS is calling on different generations to get together to share skills that can make their lives better.

Recent research released by WRVS for our Nationwise campaign shows 91% of older people believe they have knowledge younger people would find useful, and 63% of those aged between 16 and 24 say they would welcome the advice and knowledge older people can offer; but only 32% have regular contact with older people.

Everyone has skills that can be useful to someone else, even if they don’t think it’s anything special.

For example, showing a younger person how to cook a tasty, simple meal, or teaching an older person how to use the Internet so they can keep in touch with their family, can make a real difference to someone’s life.
