LETTER: Burnley should fight for its share of pothole repair cash

Your correspondent Paula Riley is, of course, quite correct in pointing out it is the County Council and not Burnley Council which deals with highway matters.

Her comments follow my campaign on behalf of local residents to ensure the many dangerous potholes on our roads are dealt with swiftly and not left because of financial excuses.

I was pleased to learn an extra £2m. will be invested by the council this coming financial year but of course this will not repair every pothole immediately and that sum is for the whole of the county.

All the more reason, therefore, the borough council should be involved on behalf of Burnley residents to ensure they fight for a fair share of this cash.
