I feel I have to write to thank the Mayor and Mayoress of Padiham, Coun. Vince and Mrs Gillian Pridden, for the mayoral open afternoon on September 26th. This was my first visit to the event but it won’t be my last.
Everything was executed beautifully. The tables were exquisitely decorated with red, white and blue flowers in jewelled crown table decorations. Afternoon tea was a five-star experience. The attention to detail was apparent to the visitors. The cakes, pastries and biscuits were beautifully presented on gorgeous cake stands. Scones, butter and jam were also presented in novelty picnic baskets and the selection of sandwiches was excellent, which added to the whole experience.
All this was enhanced by a visit from the Pearly King and Queen, David and Jill Atkinson, in their splendid regalia. The soloist, Jessica, from Sir John Thursby Community College, and the dance troupe from Shuttleworth College provided us with splendid entertainment.
The Padiham and Burnley Mayoress’s committees worked effortlessly providing a wonderful service to all.
