WORSTHORNE NEWS: Can you help run the bar?

ST JOHN’S CHURCH – At the morning service on Sunday, palm crosses will be blessed and distributed. The performance of Stainer’s “Crucifixion”, sung by the church choir and friends at Evensong last Sunday was well attended.

PASSOVER MEAL – A symbolic Last Supper will be served by members of the Mothers’ Union in the upper room at St John’s at 7 p.m. This will be followed at 8 p.m. by Eucharist of the Last Supper, including stripping the Sanctuary and then the Watch which concludes with Compline at 11-45 p.m. On Saturday, the church will be prepared for the Easter celebration, with the Service of Light and First Eucharist of the Resurrection at 8 p.m.

CHURCH BAR – A volunteer is needed to help run the licensed bar at St John’s. Duties include ordering, receiving and collecting stock, bottling up, organising the staff rota and clearing up after events. For further information or to offer help, ring John on 427964 or Jim on 431296.

WINE CIRCLE – On Monday evening, the male members of the Wine Circle will host an evening of musical entertainment and serve a pie and peas supper.

MAYOR’S CHARITY FUND – Tickets are selling fast for the “Evening of Brass and Choral Music” organised by the Mayoress’s Committee on Friday, May 6th. Stacksteads Brass Band and the Choir of St John’s, Worsthorne, will perform. Tickets are £6.50, including refreshments, and are available from Jim on 431296.
