MAYORESS’S COMMITTEE – St John’s Church will be the venue for a fund-raising event on Wednesday, February 23rd, when local butcher George Heys will be presenting a Sausage Evening. A few tickets, priced £6.50, including refreshments, are still available from Elizabeth on 454174.

ST JOHN’S – A new editor for the church magazine has been appointed. Carolyn Potts has taken over and will compile the March edition.

MOTHERS’ UNION – The next meeting on March 1st, is entitled “Reflections in Poetry, Monologue and Song” presented by Tony Cummins. All are welcome to this meeting, at 7-30 p.m.

WINE CIRCLE – An open night is planned for March 7th which will include a quiz.

MEN’S GROUP – 21 members had a conducted tour of Burnley College. The group was most impressed by the facilities available and courses on offer, as well as the enthusiastic staff and students.

There are excellent sporting facilities, with a fitness room, gym, challenging climbing wall, and an all-weather football pitch. Next month’s meeting is on March 8th, back on home turf, with a change to the itinerary, Peter Hartley will speak about his travels, far from Worsthorne, and perhaps not so far as well. Surprises are in store.
