Fitness enthusiasts from the Burnley area are working up a sweat over a “Fitness Bingo” challenge over the summer.

They are among 16,000 people who are aiming to get a full house by completing 12 fitness challenges at their local leisure centres in the North West’s Active Network.

All completed bingo cards enter the member into a prize draw to win more than £500 of prizes.

The Active Network was created in 2011 by six local authorities and leisure trusts in Lancashire, and allows members to enjoy activity at all their leisure facilities.

The network has expanded and now includes leisure sites all over the North West including the Lake District, Craven and the new Witton Park Arena in Blackburn.

Scott Bryce, manager at St Peter’s Centre, Burnley, said: “The network is a fantastic package for our members. It provides access to 16 swimming pools, 20 gyms and over 200 exercise classes per week.

“The membership also allows access to over 15 steam rooms, saunas and spa facilities. There is simply no other membership like it”.

Active Network user Azmal Ali (32) from Burnley, said: “I love my membership with Burnley Leisure.

“Not only can I work out in the best facilities in Burnley but when I’m working out of the area I can also use Pendle’s gym and I’ve even been for a swim in Hyndburn. No other membership gives you this option.

“It’s great value for money with excellent staff, and no excuses not to work out with so many facilities that I can access no matter where I am.”

The network is free to more than 16,000 members on certain health and fitness memberships in each of the areas.
