Fire chiefs have praised the actions of crews and the public following the blaze which engulfed a former Burnley school.
Dozens of firefighters tackled the fire at the former Ridgewood High School from around 8-25pm yesterday until the early hours of this morning.
And station manager Steve Morgan was quick to hail a “fantastic” team effort. “We had crews from Burnley, Nelson, Padiham, Colne and Hyndburn in attendance as well as a mobile fire station and the aerial ladder platform,” he said. “It was a fantastic team effort from the teams across East Lancashire.
“I would also like to thank the members of the community for their help and reassure them that incidents like this are a rarity.”
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
