Police have issued witness appeals after two separate collisions saw two pedestrians left with serious injuries in Burnley.

At approximately 10am on Christmas Eve a white Ford car travelling on Casterton Avenue collided with a 69-year-old woman.

The woman, from Padiham, suffered serious injuries to her face and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment. The driver of the car, a 48-year-old man, was uninjured.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log reference number 352 of December 24th.

On Christmas Day, a 73-year-old woman was seriously injured following a collision in Briercliffe.

Officers were called out at around 3-25pm after reports of a collision between an Audi car and a pedestrian.

The woman, from Burnley, was found at the scene with serious injuries to her eye, hip, leg and chest. She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment. The male driver of the Audi was uninjured.

Sgt Adam Dawson, of the Lancashire Road Policing team, said: “We would appeal to anyone with information to contact police immediately.”
