COMMUTERS to and from Burnley suffered traffic chaos this morning as Loveclough, Crawshawbooth and Rawtenstall ground to a virtual standstill as snow and ice covered the road.
Cars and buses crawled along the busy A682 while three X43 “Witchway” buses had to be rescued by police and a snowplough in Loveclough at around 9-30am.
Transdev, the company which runs the popular X43 service announced on its website: “Due to icy conditions, we are experiencing problems with some services this morning.
“We are currently unable to operate the X43 through Loveclough to Rawtenstall, so services are being diverted via the M65. Services coming from Crawshawbooth are delayed by over an hour.
“We are unable to operate the X41 via Haslingden, so services are diverted along the motorway. In Hapton services are delayed by 45 minutes.”
