Eighteen schoolchildren were taken to hospital after their bus narrowly avoided a collision with a car yesterday morning.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward after the incident involving the yellow Volvo school bus and a white Vauxhall Vivaro in Hillingdon Road.
The incident happened near to the junction with Grassington Drive around 8-25am and resulted in the bus driver having to slam on his brakes.
Pupils aged between 11 and 15 were taken to Burnley General Hospital with injuries including whiplash and bruising. They have all since been released from the hospital.
Road policing Sgt Mike Smith said: “We are still trying to establish exactly what has happened and just how the school bus and car almost hit each other.
“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident to get in touch with us.”
