A family has escaped unhurt after a horror smash which catapulted their car into its roof near Hapton.

A man and three children were in the silver Vauxhall Zafira when it hit a curb and overturned when travelling along Manchester Road near the village.

Witness Tesh Kinder Desai (27) saw the terrifying accident last Wednesday, describing it as “like something from a movie”.

He said: “I saw the car flip over. I saw it spin in mid air and land. It looked really bad. It couldn’t believe it, it was like something out of a film. The car was in a bad way. It was upside down, there was petrol leaking and all the windows were smashed. I though someone was going to be critically injured.”

Tesh, a doorman in Burnley, stopped to help the children and driver out of the wreckage before paramedics and fire crews arrived at 10-20pm.

“The driver had a cut on the back of his head. The young boy was put on a stretcher for a precaution because of a bad back and neck and the girl was in shock. I put the children in my car for safety. The paramedics were using my car as a second ambulance. It was lucky they were not injured.”
