A BURNLEY man who suffered serious injuries in a horror smash which claimed the life of his sister is off the critical list, his family has said.
Driver Tariq Gulzar (32) was in a coma in the Royal Preston Hospital following the accident on the A56 Accrington by-pass, Huncoat, on September 25th. His sister Shameem Gulzar (35), a passenger in the Mercedes, died after being taken to hospital.
Their brother Salim said: “Tariq is far better than he was. It might be a while before he’s back to normal because of his leg injuries but he’s eating, drinking, and talking.”
He said their two-year-old niece, who was in the car at the time, has been allowed home. “It’s a miracle, she’s back to normal. There isn’t a mark on her.”
The Gulzar family had been on their way to an appointment in Manchester when the crash happened.
