A GROUP of girls from Burnley have been awarded the highest accolade in Girl Guiding.

Natalie Haywood, Hannah Wold, Freya Slater and Kate Hargreaves of the 1st Habergham All Saints Guide Unit, were presented with the Baden-Powell challenge badge.

The Baden-Powell challenge is the highest award a Guide can achieve and requires each girl to choose, plan and carry out a total of 10 challenges, including organising a cookery competition and an international evening, making a shelter and spending the night in it, completing the first-aid badge and making a collage to reflect their culture and lifestyle.

Unfortunately the Habergham Guide Unit has now closed due to the retirement of the leaders and more helpers and leaders are needed to run groups of Guides and Rainbows across Burnley.
