Three Burnley siblings raised more than £650 for a charity helping terminally-ill children last month.

Leighton (6) and Logan Cain (10) each performed 500 kicks at Dragons Kickboxing Club in Accrington Road on Friday August 21st, while their sister Lucy (18) organised a children’s disco at Ighten Leigh Social Club in Padiham Road on Saturday August 1st.

Lucy was able to raise £450 for When You Wish Upon A Star - a charity that grants the wishes of terminally-ill children - while her brothers have so far raised just over £200.

Between the three of them they hope to raise more through their justgiving page.

Mum Louise Ruddy praised her children and hopes they can continue raising money for worthy causes.

“I am very proud of them,” she said.

“They are all very good children. They like to help people out and things like that.

“I have been very lucky with that. They are all good.”

The siblings of Padgate Place chose the charity in memory of their grandfather, Francis Ruddy (74) who died in May.

“My grandad absolutely adored children. He loved any child and children loved him,” she explained.

“I think this has been part of the grieving. They are making it into a positive.

“He would be very proud of them.”
