CONCERT – THE Readstone Singers Prelude to Christmas concert took place at St John’s Church, Read. The choir performed a selection of Christmas songs and carols with plenty of audience participation. It was lovely to see a packed church for this performance despite the weather, as it was Peter Jelley’s last as choir master. He has now retired after 27 years. The charity benefitting from the collection, which raised £455, was Help for Heroes.

The choir starts rehearsals for its summer performance on January 18th. Any women interested in joining are welcome to go along to St John’s Church at 7-30 p.m. each Wednesday. The new leader will be Olwyn Pearce.

PARISH COUNCIL – The next meeting of Simonstone Parish Council will be on Thursday, January 12th at 7 p.m. in the old school hall. For the foreseeable future, parish council meetings will be held at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month.

The parish council has made a £150 donation to the Little Green Bus scheme.
