READ couple Danielle Turner and Jason Fyles are going head to head with four other hopeful Lancashire duos in a competition to win “the ultimate wedding” worth over £30,000.
Preston-based radio station Rock FM are offering the winners the chance of an all-expenses paid day, with a massive showcase of prizes including a wedding package comprising ceremony, breakfast and reception at Eaves Hall, West Bradford, flowers, wedding cake, fireworks, beauty treatments, stag and hen parties and even a pair of personally customised shoes for the bride!
The competition sees the couples in a race to raise the most amount for the station’s charity, Cash for Kids.
The charity, set up by Rock FM’s parent company Bauer, runs across the 21 broadcast areas in which the company’s radio stations operate. In 2012, the charity raised over £11m. for local children and young people who are suffering from abuse or neglect, are disabled and have special needs, or who simply need extra care and guidance.
Danielle (24) and Jason (26) are now in the final five couples after being short-listed from the 25 entrants who attended a “Bridal Bootcamp” at Eaves Hall, where the lucky winners will eventually tie the knot. The winners will be announced live on air on Monday morning.
The couple’s fund-raising activities will include Jason being sponsored to wear a mankini while taking paint ball shots for money and Danielle’s brother Matthew, a CRGS sixth form student, shaving his head if collections from school friends go above £150. Bag packing and collecting will take place in Asda, Burnley, On Thursday, Friday and Saturday with more fund-raising activities in store on Friday in Morrisons, Blackburn. A charity night will also be held on Friday at Whalley Golf Club, with a raffle and auction where prizes will include a week’s holiday for four to Turkey, meals at Great Lands Chinese restaurant in Barrow and Whalley Golf Club, £50 cash, a full car valet from Whalley Auto Bodies, a Hanson’s Garden Centre voucher and a toy bundle from Findel Education.
Danielle commented: “We are so excited at the prospect of winning such an amazing prize. We have had to prepare ourselves for it going to someone else, but at the same time, I never dreamed we would make it to the final 25, never mind the final five, so anything can happen. We’d like to say thank you to all our family and friends for helping to organise the fund raising – everyone has been amazing.”
