A POWER cut plunged 600 Padiham homes into darkness late last night.

A fault with an underground cable saw the electricity supply fail to properties in the Church Street and Blackburn Road areas of town at around 10-30 p.m.

Energy provider Electricity North West confirmed engineers managed to repair the supply to 500 homes by 12-20 a.m. and the rest were brought back on by 1 a.m.

A spokesman for Electricity North West said: “We have a lot of underground cables and there was a fault somewhere in the area. We sent engineers out as quick as possible to repair the problem. We apologise for any inconvenience it has caused.”
