POLICE are continuing to wage war on drugs in Burnley after their latest heroin and cannabis bust.

Officers raided two addresses in the town after concerns were raised by members of the public.

Suspected heroin was seized from a property in Pine Street and a 49-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of heroin. She was released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Eight wraps of cannabis bush and a number of blue tablets believed to be valium were also discovered at a house in Arley Gardens. A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and was bailed pending further enquiries. The drugs have been sent off for forensic analysis.

Sgt Duncan Arthur, from the Burnley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said “This operation represents a small part of our commitment to protect the communities of Burnley from the problems of drugs and associated crime.

“We are determined to respond to the concerns of our communities and will continue to take action to remove drugs and the people involved from our streets.”
