Police have seized drugs with a street value of more than £26,000 in a raid on a house in Nelson.

Around 12-30pm on Tuesday, officers executed a drugs warrant at an address in Barkerhouse Road and discovered a kilo and a half of amphetamine, about 600g of skunk cannabis, three bars of cannabis resin, 750 temazepam tablets and 4,000 diazepam tablets.

A 30-year-old man from Nelson was arrested on suspicion of a drugs offence and has been released on police bail until February 9th pending further inquiries.

DS Andy Brown, from Lancashire Police, said: "As a result of this warrant, a significant amount of drugs have been taken out of circulation and prevented from reaching our streets. Drugs cause serious harm to our communities and we are determined to tackle anyone who is involved in their supply.

“We need the public to continue to work with us and if anyone has any concerns about drugs in their area, I would urge them to report their suspicions to us on 101."
