Police eager to trace suspicious-acting man

Police are appealing for information following a number of suspicious incidents in the Hapton area of Burnley.

The first two incidents happened shortly after 2am on Sunday, April 5th after two women reported that a man had been acting suspiciously in Wordsworth Avenue and had knocked on their doors for a prolonged period of time.

A man who was described as being dressed in a dark top and either dark tracksuit bottoms or shorts was seen in the alleyway off Wordsworth Street at the time of these incidents before running away.

In the early hours of Sunday, July 5th police received another report of suspicious activity from a third woman who said that a man had been knocking on her door in the same area.

A fourth incident happened this week when one of the woman from the first incident reported that a man was again knocking on her door at around 5pm on Tuesday, December 8th.

Det. Sgt Tom Edmondson of Burnley CID said: “Three women have made reports of a man acting suspiciously in the area and we are keen to identify who this man is. If you have any information about these incidents or if you have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area then please do get in touch with us at the earliest opportunity.”
