Police confirm suspicions over industrial estate fire

A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary has confirmed that they are treating the recent Moorfield Industrial Estate as suspicious, and are appealing for anyone with any information to come forwards.

The recent blaze at the Excell Recycling Centre on the Moorfield Industrial Estate on Moorfield Road in Altham, which saw over 100 firefighters trying to quell the fire consuming 400 vehicles.

At its peak, 16 fire crews were required to control the inferno, to which authorities had been called at around 4:30am on the morning of Wednesday, December 7th. The fire has since been put out.

The statement from Lancashire Constabulary read: "We can confirm that we believe the origin of the fire to be suspicious and we're in the early stages of an investigation into the cause.

"Anyone with information shoudl call 101 quoting log number 0109 of December 7th."
