PHOTO SPECIAL; Open day at Burnley Fire Station

Burnley’s gleaming new fire station opened its doors to the public for the first time since it opened at the end of May.

The new station, which has replaced the previously outdated station in Belvedere Road, has state-of-the-art training facilities for firefighters, community rooms that members of the public will be able to hire out and a room dedicated to the work that Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service does with young people.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire Service said: “Children were able to play games that promote fire safety and also enjoyed tours of the station and equipment.”
