Padiham turns out in force for big Christmas lights switch on

Crowds gathered for one of the biggest events in Padiham's calendar on Friday..the annual Christmas lights switch on.

Dozens braved the cold to watch a spectacular firework display after the lights were switched on by the Mayor of Padiham Coun. James Kirk.

There was a festive craft fair, funfair and a grotto for the children to drop off their wish lists and meet Father Christmas.

Children from St John's RC Primary School serenanded the crowds with a selection of festive songs and hymns and the celebrations included the blessing of the crib ceremony.

Organised by Padiham Town Council, town councillor Jean Cunningham thanked everyone for their support.

She said: "As always the people of Padiham did themselves proud, turning out on a cold night to support this great event."
