PADIHAM’S new Tesco superstore is finally set to open tomorrow morning.

The supermarket giant said doors will open to customers at 8am after work was completed on the £11m. store last week.

The superstore at the former Britannia Mill site in Wyre Street will feature 239 parking spaces, pharmacy, click and collect desk and clothes as well as groceries.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Padiham Coun. Alan and Linda Ravencroft will hold a special ribbon cutting ceremony at 10am to officially mark the opening.

Coun. Ravenscroft said: “I am delighted to be officially opening the new store on Thursday. I am very pleased that Tesco has recognised the history surrounding the site by incorporating the Britannia Mill Lion into its design. The store has provided employment opportunities for Padiham and the surrounding areas during the present economic climate.

“The appointment of a Town Centre Manager to work with the other shop owners and traders within the town shows the stores commitment to improving and safeguarding existing businesses.”

The store will open 24 hours from 6am on Monday until midnight on Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
